Language :

Vietnamese.

Cambodia encompasses a single official language that is Khmer. It is spoken by nearly ninetieth of the country's population.

Food :

Pronounced ‘Fu’ as in Furby this delicious noodle dish is synonymous  with Vietnamese food. It is conjointly everywhere; from the instant you step foot in Vietnam to the second you allow. From breakfast tables to the curbside. Pho is easily Vietnam’s most common street food, found day through to night, locals hunker down on tiny plastic chairs to slurp Pho at tiny plastic tables. Slightly bizarre but truly unique. Pho typically comes as Beef (Pho Bo) or chicken (Pho Ga) served in coinciding broth over flat rice noodles and flavourings of herbs. Optional garnish of sliced red chillies, squeeze of lime, bean sprouts, holy basil and cilantro. Shloop. Pho makes the base of endless numbers of soups in Vietnam. Summer rolls also come meatless / vegetarian. Fried spring rolls need less of an introduction; meat and veg rolled in rice paper before deep frying to crisp. An unhealthy alternative to summer rolls. Both are found in most Vietnamese food menus. Banh mi is another of Vietnam’s staple street foods generally found sold at small, street side stalls. As with all baguettes you'll be able to place just about something in them. That being same with the Vietnamese Banh Mi I typically realize a group filling. Marinated pork, grilled roadside, over smoking charcoals. For fellow barbecue lovers Thit Nuong is the one street food hard to resist. While perfect eaten skewered as a quick, meaty snack; Thit Nuong is also found in many of my favourite Vietnamese foods. Stuffed in a baguette (Thit Xien Banh Mi), wrapped in spring rolls (Banh Uot Thir Nuong) and the Vietnamese favourite topping noodles (Bun Thit Nuong).

This dish isn't solely reserved to the coastal city of Kep. However, it is there where you’ll find it at its freshest and finest. With the crabs caught daily and flogged at the active Crab Market, a range of crab shacks and restaurants include stir-fried crab and pepper — usually Kampot pepper — on the menu. Fish amok is command in esteem as Cambodia’s signature dish, and the creamy curry can be found in abundance on menus in tourist hubs. Diced fillets of freshwater fish are smothered in coconut milk, eggs, fish sauce and palm sugar. Kroeung — a paste made from pounded spices and other ingredients, such as turmeric, kaffir lime, lemongrass and shallots — is also added. The traditional thanks to cook the dish is by steaming it in a very banana leaf formed into a bowl, within which it is served. Milder and much less spicy than the curries found in Thailand and India, Khmer curries tend to use more herbs than spices, and are milder and sweeter in taste. While recipes vary, the curry normally features chicken, coconut cream and milk; fish sauce; herbs and diced sweet potatoes; garlic; shallots; turmeric and ginger. It is accompanied by rice or a baguette. This is one in every of the foremost common street foods and is instantly on the market across Kampuchea. Made of thin rice noodles, shredded banana leaves, beansprouts, cucumber, mint and basil, topped with green fish curry, it is often made and sold by women balancing a pole on their shoulders containing the ingredients on either aspect.
